Piu Piu (pronounced “pew-pew,” which means “peep peep” in Japanese) was brought to the farm as a very sick gosling rescued by a mother and daughter who spotted him while taking a walk along the Charles River in Boston. The river is known for its domesticated geese and unfortunately there have been many attacks on these geese by conservation groups, hunters, and others, which leaves many goslings orphaned.
While on their walk, the mother and daughter noticed a gosling who was stuck upside down and could not right himself. They took the orphaned baby home but had a hard time feeding him, so Cheri agreed to take him in and nurse him back to health. Piu Piu is now a thriving and healthy full-grown male goose, also known as a gander.
